Smart Araneta Coliseum takes the international basketball stage as it is set to host one of the windows for this year's FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifier games.
Teams from Korea, New Zealand, India, and the Philippines (Team A) will face each other from February 24 to 28 for a slot at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. As one of the hosts of the World Cup’s final phase, the Philippines' Gilas Pilipinas is already qualified but will still take part in the qualifier games.
Originally slated as a no-audience tournament, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas was able to get clearance from the Quezon City LGU unit to open the games to the public. Only two sections will be open for the fans – lower box seats at P500, and upper box seats at P200.
Only fully-vaccinated individuals aged 12 years old and above will be allowed to watch the live games. Fans are required to present their vaccination cards together with any valid ID or government-issued ID with picture, and use of a face mask inside the arena is mandatory. Food will only be allowed at the concourse of the coliseum, not at the audience area. Finally, a strict ‘No Kyusi pass, no entry’ policy (even for non-QC residents) will be implemented.
Tickets for the live PBA games may be purchased at http://www.ticketnet.com.ph.
