Smart Araneta Coliseum sets stage for Sarah Geronimo's first virtual film concert

The Big Dome set the stage for popstar royalty Sarah Geronimo's return to the concert stage with "Tala: The Film Concert".

The two-hour virtual concert first aired online on March 27, 2021 at 8:00pm. It will stream again on May 1 at 8:00pm, and on May 2 at 11:00am.

Geronimo's very first film concert followed a narrative style that was inspired by film concerts of international artists. It gave fans an interactive and modern take on her 18 hit songs, including “Kilometro,” “Ikot-ikot” and “Isa Pang Araw.” She also belted her own interpretation of Rico Blanco's pop ballad "Your Universe."

The online show also featured rapper J. Makata and rock vocalist Champ Lui Pio who joined Geronimo via specially shot music videos.

The virtual concert was directed by Paul Basinillo, with Louie Ocampo as the musical director and Georcelle Dapat-Sy as the creative director.

Produced by Viva Entertainment, "Tala: The Film Concert" featured scenes that were taped last December 2020 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. With the temporary postponement of its regular activities due to the pandemic, the Big Dome has started accepting venue rentals for virtual or hybrid concerts and entertainment performances.

Geronimo last performed at the coliseum in the two-day sold-out concert 'Unified' along with Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez last February 14 and 15, 2020. Her solo concerts at the Big Dome include the This I5 Me anniversary concert in 2018, which set the record for the highest grossing local concert to date in Smart Araneta Coliseum.
